COMPETITION AIMS TO HELP GREEN THUMBS TO THRIVE
GREEN-THUMBED home owners have the chance to win more than $1300 worth of landscaping products as part of property agency Bourkes’ latest community event.
Selling agents Adam Piller and James Thompson are running the inaugural Bourkes Best Yard competition, sponsored by Earth & Water in Como and Garden Affair in South Perth.
“This is a fun and inclusive event and we are looking forward to seeing entries from any young, aspiring green thumbs through to older enthusiasts, individual gardeners or a family effort,” Mr Piller said.
The competition aims to reward gardeners with the most creative and well-tended entries from a wide variety of landscapes, including traditional back yards, front gardens, courtyards, balconies as well as pool surrounds.
Awards will be given out for Best Large Garden, Best Small Garden and Best Courtyard or Balcony, with first-prize winners taking home a fully installed living garden wall from Earth & Water valued at $300 and a $100 store voucher from Garden Affair.
Judges Nigel Thompson, from Earth & Water, Bruce Jourdain, from Garden Affair, and Perth horticulturalist and turf expert Nick Bell will award prizes to the winners and also hand out $50 gift vouchers from Garden Affair to the runners-up.
The Bourkes Best Yard competition closes on October 31, with winners announced on November 10.
