Rubbish dumped on roadside
A LAWLER Street resident says the street verge has begun to look like a “dump site”.
The South Perth resident said a pile of rubbish had been growing “by the day” on the verge.
The resident, who did not want to be named, said the culprits dumping the rubbish came from an Access Housing unit on Douglas Street and said they would just chuck the rubbish over the fence.
“It has been an ongoing issue,” she said.
“It is illegal, a fire hazard and looks disgusting. The pile just keeps getting bigger.”
She wanted somebody to put a sign up as a reminder that dumping was illegal.
In a statement, Access Housing said it was unable to comment on specific tenancy cases.
“Access Housing has been made aware of an aesthetic matter at this property and have had contact from neighbours,” the statement said.
“There is rubbish located on the rear verge and we are addressing this by having the rubbish removed from the rear and the lawns mowed.”
The City of South Perth would not comment on the issue as they said it was an invasion of the tenant’s privacy.
