Stu­dent to ex­hibit some fine fab­ri­ca­tion

EDITH Cowan Univer­sity con­tem­po­rary fash­ion and tex­tiles stu­dent Vynka Topham is one of three young WA de­sign­ers fea­tured in this year’s Ban­shu-ORI Col­lec­tion ex­hi­bi­tion. Topham trav­elled on a schol­ar­ship to Ja­pan in March as part of the Western Aus­tralia – Hyogo Ban­shu Tex­tile pro­gram, where she col­lab­o­rated with Ja­panese tex­tile com­pa­nies, Ozawa Tex­tile and Naigai Ori­mono, to de­velop her own fab­rics. She also had the op­por­tu­nity to meet Aus­tralian de­signer Akira Iso­gawa, who was there cre­at­ing his own tex­tile col­lec­tion. The 2014 Ban­shu-ORI Col­lec­tion ex­hi­bi­tion is show­ing at enex100, Hay Street Mall, Perth from Oc­to­ber 21 to Novem­ber 2.
