THE Belmont Sports and Recreation Centre was the venue for a senior’s morning tea last Monday to discuss federal government budget cuts.

Deputy Leader of the Opposition Tanya Plibersek and Senator Sue Lines attended the event.

East Metropolitan MLC Samantha Rowe said resident concerns included limited public transport options in the area and costs of living pressures.

Other questions involved the state of the Australian economy, volunteering roles for seniors, and the raising of the retirement age.

About 120 seniors were treated to a morning tea catered by the Belmont Park Tennis Club.
