Cold water but warm hearts
THE first annual Cold Water Classic Swim had raised $20,898 by the end of last week, after the event for the Leukaemia Foundation at North Cottesloe Surf Lifesaving Club on October 4.
Counting of donations from the inaugural swim continues, with a target of $40,000.
The event was organised by James and Victoria Anderson for the charity when their daughter Mimi (3) was diagnosed with acute lymph blastic leukaemia in May.
“Faced with an unimaginable challenge, our family and friends have banded together to leverage the caring spirit that is undeniably present in our local community,” Mr Anderson said.
A group of 152 swimmers paid $40 each to tackle 1.8km from North Cottesloe Surf Club to Cottesloe Pylon and back to the club.
