Cold wa­ter but warm hearts

THE first an­nual Cold Wa­ter Clas­sic Swim had raised $20,898 by the end of last week, after the event for the Leukaemia Foun­da­tion at North Cottes­loe Surf Life­sav­ing Club on Oc­to­ber 4.

Count­ing of do­na­tions from the in­au­gu­ral swim con­tin­ues, with a tar­get of $40,000.

The event was or­gan­ised by James and Vic­to­ria An­der­son for the char­ity when their daugh­ter Mimi (3) was di­ag­nosed with acute lymph blas­tic leukaemia in May.

“Faced with an unimag­in­able chal­lenge, our fam­ily and friends have banded to­gether to lever­age the car­ing spirit that is un­de­ni­ably present in our lo­cal com­mu­nity,” Mr An­der­son said.

A group of 152 swim­mers paid $40 each to tackle 1.8km from North Cottes­loe Surf Club to Cottes­loe Py­lon and back to the club.
