FANS CAN INDULGE FASHION PASSION
THE wait is finally over for Perth fans of fashion brand Topshop Topman, with the retailer opening to the public last Friday.
Next Athleisure chairman Hilton Seskin, the man responsible for bringing Topshop Topman to Australia in 2011, jetted in from Sydney to oversee the final stages of the milestone moment.
Seskin said a Perth flagship store had always been high on the agenda and its positioning at the newly revamped Carillon City was essential, providing a 102m store frontage and 2190sq m of retail space across two floors, featuring the same collections available in London and New York.
“I’ve been in retail for a long time and in fashion for about the past 15 years and for me, Topshop is the most iconic fashion brand there is in the world market,” he said.
“It’s exciting to be able to bring something like that to the local market and quite groundbreaking from a retail point of view.”
Seskin said while Topshop Topman depicted itself as a fast fashion brand, it was not a fast disposable fashion brand.
“There’s a lot of thought process that goes into the product range and it is proba- bly one of the few mainstream brands that is so quick to market from catwalk to shop floor,” he said.
Seskin said there had been an overwhelming number of job applications.
“It’s always hard when making selections with great people missing out, but it’s been really good,” he said.
“The staff are more excited about the opening than anyone.
“I’ve seen some of the staff sales going through (last week) and it almost looks like the store has already opened.”
Topshop Topman is at 207 Murray Street, Perth.
