Chance to ful­fil need for speed

IF speed is your thing, but you only like to watch from the com­fort of a pic­nic blan­ket, set aside time on Sun­day at the Bur­swood river­front for the WA Speed Boat Club’s first meet of the sea­son.

Rac­ing starts at 10.30am at the Bur­swood Wa­ter­sports Cen­tre on Cam­field Drive in what will be the start of the club’s 65th sea­son rac­ing on the Swan since 1949.

The club will hold race meets ev­ery sec­ond Sun­day, fea­tur­ing fast-cir­cuit rac­ing for in­board dis­place­ment V8s, tun­nel boats, 25hp su­per sports, 15hp ju­niors and the new cruiser class for reg­u­lar run­abouts and ski boats.

You can ex­pect to wit­ness speeds of up to 160km/h.
