Chance to fulfil need for speed
IF speed is your thing, but you only like to watch from the comfort of a picnic blanket, set aside time on Sunday at the Burswood riverfront for the WA Speed Boat Club’s first meet of the season.
Racing starts at 10.30am at the Burswood Watersports Centre on Camfield Drive in what will be the start of the club’s 65th season racing on the Swan since 1949.
The club will hold race meets every second Sunday, featuring fast-circuit racing for inboard displacement V8s, tunnel boats, 25hp super sports, 15hp juniors and the new cruiser class for regular runabouts and ski boats.
You can expect to witness speeds of up to 160km/h.
Jason Woollard prepares his 25hp Supersports boat for the club’s first race meet of the season this Sunday.
