LAST week a man named Julien Blanc was all over the media. The American man who is a “pick-up artist” started his Australian tour last month, a tour that involves teaching men to “diss fatties, bang hotties”. If I could think of a word worse than disgusting right now, I would be using it. Moreover, it gets worse; a quick look around social media and it seems the 25-year-old dating coach also believes domestic violence is a way to “make her stay”. He uses the hashtag #ChokingGirls AroundTheWorld to make his point. How many times do we have to remind people that in Australia one woman dies each week from incidents of domestic violence? Thankfully, here comes the light. Australia is saying no to Julien Blanc. A hotel in Melbourne and one in Brisbane last week pulled his events. Good on you for standing up against this revolting behaviour. We don’t need it.
