AUSSIE JOHN ON THE MOVE
AUSSIE founder John Symond jetted into Perth last week to open four more stores, including one in Victoria Park.
In between a busy schedule, the entrepreneur told Community he was continuing to invest in WA because he had full confidence in its future economy.
“You always have to invest in the future. There’s not many places in the world that have what WA has. Yes, the accelerator might come off for a while, but my money is on WA being a turbocharged economy within the next five to 10 years,” he said.
Mr Symond, who founded Aussie in the midst of the 1980s recession, said Australians should embrace the opportunities that tough times provided. He advised mum-and-dad property investors to keep their eyes open for the opportunities that came with the changing housing market.
“There must be 20 different housing markets in Perth. You have to do your homework now, more than ever. Certain parts of Perth, where population is, will move sharply up in price when times are good,” he said.
The other new stores are in Warwick, Kalamunda and Albany.
John Symond, Aussie Victoria Park manager Alan Dinnie and Town of Victoria Park Mayor Trevor Vaughan open the new store.
