Lat­est grants wel­comed

SWAN MHR Steve Irons wel­comed the an­nounce­ment that a sec­ond quar­terly pay­ment of $575 mil­lion will be paid to coun­cils across Aus­tralia, in­clud­ing a com­mit­ment of more than $3.4 mil­lion in Swan alone.

“Coun­cils are free to spend this un­tied grant fund­ing ac­cord­ing to lo­cal pri­or­i­ties, in­clud­ing for in­fra­struc­ture, health, recre­ation, en­vi­ron­ment, em­ploy­ment and roads projects. The first quar­terly pay­ment for 2014-15 was made to coun­cils in Au­gust 2014,” Mr Irons said.

City of Bel­mont chief ex­ec­u­tive Stu­art Cole said of the $339,293 grant, the City is re­quired to use $130,994 for on­go­ing main­te­nance and re­newal of the road net­work.

The re­main­ing $208,299 will be used to help fund the many ser­vices pro­vided by the city.
