Latest grants welcomed
SWAN MHR Steve Irons welcomed the announcement that a second quarterly payment of $575 million will be paid to councils across Australia, including a commitment of more than $3.4 million in Swan alone.
“Councils are free to spend this untied grant funding according to local priorities, including for infrastructure, health, recreation, environment, employment and roads projects. The first quarterly payment for 2014-15 was made to councils in August 2014,” Mr Irons said.
City of Belmont chief executive Stuart Cole said of the $339,293 grant, the City is required to use $130,994 for ongoing maintenance and renewal of the road network.
The remaining $208,299 will be used to help fund the many services provided by the city.
