SUMMER BACK ON ROOFTOP
A NEW beanbag seating option and larger screen are two of the differences patrons will experience at Rooftop Movies this season.
The outdoor venue opened last week for its fourth year at the Northbridge location and program manager Jessica Darlow said the changes were their way of upping the ante as they provided a mixed bag of movies.
“We’re like the pick and mix of cinema,” Darlow said.
“I like to think we occupy a space between Luna Palace, who do the incredible independent release films, and blockbuster cinemas.
“This year we have the best of what’s come out during the past six months in both mainstream and independent cinema, and some fun classics you don’t often get to see on the big screen.
“I love that the venue is in the middle of everything and you don’t have to schlep out in a car and find parking somewhere to walk through a football field to get to it. I can leave work at 5.30pm, be there by 6pm, have a drink and watch the sun go down.”
Rooftop Movies is on the sixth floor of Roe Street carpark, Northbridge, and is open nightly, excluding Mondays, from 6pm.
The full summer season runs until April and the program is available at www.rooftop movies.com.au.
