Challenge a battle of brains

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - Near You -

IT was a battle of the brains at Scitech recently when hundreds of Primary Extension and Challenge (PEAC) students competed at Scitech’s Brainstorm Challenge Days.

The students participated in activities and problem-solving exercises that challenged their knowledge of science, technology, engineering and maths.

“It’s wonderful to see all the students converge at Scitech and really be excited to challenge themselves in new situations, problem-solve through effective teamwork and come up with some really creative solutions to a question or problem,” co-ordinator Angie Kara said.

Some of this year’s challenges included a space quiz in the planetarium, designing a medicine based on investigations into properties of various powders and fluids and a problem-solving challenge in which students attempted to get different balls out of a measuring cylinder full of water.
