Quobba gets second chance
A BABY quokka has a second chance at life thanks to vet staff at Perth Zoo.
The orphaned baby, named Quobba, is receiving round the clock care after being found in the pouch of its deceased mother by Rottnest Island Authority.
It is believed the mother had abrasions consistent with a bicycle incident.
The vets gave the joey a clean bill of health, but because she weighed only a few hundred grams she was too young to survive on her own and was placed into the care of Australian Fauna Keeper Stephen Catwell.
Quobba will eventually get a permanent home at the zoo.
