MY let­ter is not about a par­tic­u­lar cul­ture or an age group, although in­sti­gated by ver­bal vit­ri­olic abuse I ex­pe­ri­enced for merely glanc­ing at a youth when I walked around a cor­ner near his home.

I have pre­vi­ously spo­ken to other res­i­dents, in­clud­ing chil­dren, and they are very nice peo­ple, al­ways pleas­ant and smil­ing.

There­fore, is what I un­der­went just an indictment against Perth?

I re­turned to Perth after spend­ing sev­eral years over­seas. I have found rude and un­happy shop­pers in su­per­mar­kets; peo­ple too frightened to walk the city cen­tre at night, fam­ily mem­bers who have had their homes robbed (some more than once), tele­vi­sion that is in­un­dated with re­al­ity rub­bish, po-
