Making their own rules
TV’s House Rules contestants Russell and Carole Bramston from Boya famously bought their house on Gumtree and have now decided to sell it.
The experience of being on House Rules and working through the rooms and a lot of the building processes taught them a lot.
“Now we feel we could build our own place as owner/builders because we learned to much on the show,” Carole said.
The Bramstons paid $265,000 for the tin and hardiplank property on a sloping block on Coulston Road in Boya and estimate through the work on the Channel 7 show House Rules that a further $450,000 was spent on the property.
“It was the most wonderful experience for us because we only had $70,000 for renovations and Russell kept saying that won’t be enough and I was determined to renovate, even though I knew we needed more cash,” Carole said.
“I kept saying ‘But we have to do something to it’.”
The Bramstons have decided to sell the house walk in, walk out, with all the accoutrements from the show and the pieces bought specially for certain rooms.
“It makes sense because without the styling it’s just a box, but with the styling it is a lovely home,” Carole said.
The couple will move to Ascot and build their own home there and also hope to be mortgage-free.
“We need to get back on our feet so this is the only way we can do it,” Carole said.
“We don’t want to leave this area because people in the Hills are so lovely and we have met so many nice people since we moved here.”
The house is open for inspection every Sunday from 3pm to 3.45pm.
Anyone interested in the property should contact the agent, who is Wanneroo-based.
Anyone interested in buying the property needs to list their interest before 4pm on December 21.
