New chief has same mes­sage

A RESHUF­FLE of of­fi­cers at Kens­ing­ton po­lice sta­tion has re­sulted in Sergeant Roberta Richard­son now be­ing at the helm of Lo­cal Po­lice Team 5.

The team cov­ers Sal­ter Point and Como.

Sgt Richard­son said one of the area’s its main is­sues was ve­hi­cle break-ins.

“Peo­ple are still leav­ing valu­ables in their cars,” she said.

“Wallets and credit cards are be­ing stolen which re­sult in frauds be­ing com­mit­ted.

“We are try­ing to get the mes­sage out there about tak­ing all valu­ables out of their cars by talk­ing to mem­bers of the pub­lic and so­cial me­dia.”

Sgt Richard­son said the plan for the team in the new year was to in­crease vis­i­bil­ity and iden­ti­fy­ing lo­cal is­sues by at­tend­ing schools, li­braries and lo­cal events.
