STK BEAT ALL TO WIN STATE OF ORIGIN TITLE
WA Paintball team STK won the State of Origin title for 2014 in Sydney.
The team, whose members come from all over the metropolitan area, play in the Perth Paintball League competition at WASP Paintball in Carabooda.
It included Wesley College student Chris Nalder (16), who first played paintball at his 12th birthday party before joining the Raiders and has represented them in two Malaysian competitions.
He has played ever since and was recently invited to join the STK, the No.1 team in WA and ranked one of the best in Australia.
While in Sydney, STK and fellow Perth team Rogue Assassins competed in the Super 7’s Tournament and the Killer Paintballs Australian Masters.
Going into the event, STK were on top of the ladder in the Pro Division by two points, and after the weekend’s competition finished third overall.
Three STK team members – Timmy Colgan, Dan Woods and Stevie Browning – were named in the Dream Team 2014 and Stevie Browning also picked up the top award for Pro Player of the Year 2014.
Some of the members of the WA team also travelled to Langkawi in Malaysia this month to represent Australia in the Nations Cup.
After defeating India (4-0) and Germany (4-2) in their original pool, the team progressed to the next round to defeat Thailand (3-2).
Australia met France in the semi-finals but was defeated. France eventually won the competition.
Australia finished fourth out of the 12 nations represented. Browning won the Pro Player of the Year (Australia).
