Shine light on our beautiful rivers
THIS osprey’s curiosity about Manning resident Paul Fulwood’s camera paid off with an amazing photo.
Mr Fulwood now enjoys kayaking from Salter Point to Shelley Bridge and takes his camera with him to get photos of the birdlife, but before he kayaked, he walked through the bush to try to get close to the birds.
After some failed attempts, he decided to set up a GoPro camera, which took about 10,000 photos over 10 days.
“I scrolled through the photos and had captured crows sitting on the camera and around it, willy-wag tails and osprey,” he said.
Mr Fulwood then entered one of his photos into the Swan River Trust photo competition.
“The photo I chose I thought was the best because it was so sharp and the bird was looking straight at the lens. I also like how the branch it is sitting on looks like an extension of the log on the ground and so you can’t tell the size of the bird,” he said.
Environment Minister Albert Jacob is encouraging river users to enter this year’s competition.
“Our Swan and Canning rivers are icons of Perth’s environment and the source of much creative inspiration,” he said.
“This photographic competition is an opportunity to capture your view of what is important about these wonderful waterways.”
