Make merry but stay safe, am­bos warn

AUS­TRALIA Day rev­ellers are en­cour­aged to ‘slip, slop, slap’ and stay hy­drated on Mon­day, Jan­uary 26.

St John Am­bu­lance op­er­a­tions man­ager Jae Smith said peo­ple faced a height­ened risk of heat­stroke and de­hy­dra­tion if they did not take pre­cau­tions.

“It’s also very im­por­tant to drink plenty of wa­ter, es­pe­cially when drink­ing al­co­hol on a hot day,” she said.

St John will de­ploy more than 130 event health am­bu­lance of­fi­cers and vol­un­teers, plus paramedics at the Perth Sky­works.
