City re­wards small business

THE City of Bel­mont will launch its in­au­gu­ral Bel­mont Business In­no­va­tion Grants next month, al­low­ing busi­nesses to ap­ply for up to $10,000 in four grant ar­eas. Bel­mont chief ex­ec­u­tive Stu­art Cole said the ini­tia­tive came from the Prop­erty and Eco­nomic De­vel­op­ment Team within the city and was en­dorsed by coun­cil last year with the aim of pro­mot­ing aimed to pro­mote lo­cal business in­no­va­tion. Ap­pli­cants must have a regis­tered ABN, be within the city and em­ploy 20 or fewer peo­ple. Grant win­ners will be cho­sen in April by rel­e­vant mem­bers of the Bel­mont Lead­er­ship Team, which con­sists of all the man­agers in the City of Bel­mont. Mr Cole said the four grant ar­eas – re­tail fa­cade, built form, land use and en­vi­ron­ment and sus­tain­abil­ity – would of­fer up to $10,000 each..
