Stingers hope to make a big splash
TWO local women will join the Australian women’s water polo team, the Aussie Stingers, when it lines up against China on January 30 at the BHP Billiton Aquatic Super Series in Perth.
Zoe Arancini of East Victoria Park and Glencora McGhie of Como both play for the Fremantle Marlins.
The game against China will take on extra significance for world championships silver medallist Arancini, as it is an opportunity to represent Australia in front of her hometown audience.
Arancini will return from Europe where she has been playing for Italian club Cosenza.
The Aussie Stingers will travel to Perth on January 24 to prepare for their test match, with the game set to kick off at 8.30pm on Friday, January 30 at Challenge Stadium. Other local Fremantle Marlins players in the team include Lil Hedges, Gemma Beadsworth and Eliesha Browne.
