Char­ity has mil­lion rea­sons to smile

CARLISLE-based char­ity Life Cy­cle for Can­Teen has reached a for­mi­da­ble mile­stone, rais­ing more than $1 mil­lion for the Aus­tralian or­gan­i­sa­tion for young peo­ple liv­ing with can­cer. Jenny Aramini said the group had held 15 three-day road rides and three three-day Munda Biddi Trail off-road rides since 1998 with fundrais­ing for the next ride from Perth to Bus­sel­ton in March push­ing the to­tal do­na­tions to Can­Teen past $1 mil­lion. “It’s of great ex­cite­ment to both Life Cy­cle and Can­Teen mem­bers,” Ms Aramini said. “All the com­mit­tee mem­bers and crew are vol­un­teers who have given many thou­sands of hours over the years.” Can­Teen sup­ports 12 to 24-year-olds who are pa­tients, sib­lings, off­spring or be­reaved.
