address to the electoral office before the roll was closed.

As local government elections are held on the third Saturday in October next, electors please get your affairs in order.

Enrolment at one's present address on the Federal/ State Roll carries over to the local government electoral roll. But enrolment on the owner/ occupiers' roll must be done separately through the council.

The recent South Perth poll saw about 500 votes deemed invalid because those voters failed to following instructions regarding the declaration, which had to be signed, dated and left in place. The WA Electoral Commission helps people to vote by replacing lost ballot papers.

A 50 per cent return of voting papers was an exceptional result and that has set the standard for future local government elections and polls. Only 18 votes were declared informal. CAROL ROE, Manning.

As students returned to school across WA, keep in mind the parents of Halle and Ava Hodgson and Roshini and Muskan Yasir who send them off to start Year 1. We love these twins from South Perth Primary School. Do you have a picture to share? Send it to southerngazette@communi
