Chi­nese rac­ing first

AS­COT Race­course will host an ex­hi­bi­tion of Chi­nese cul­ture on Satur­day, Fe­bru­ary 21, to co­in­cide with Chi­nese New Year fes­tiv­i­ties.

Perth Rac­ing com­mer­cial and mar­ket­ing gen­eral manager Darwyn Jolly said the Chi­nese Race Day was a first for thor­ough­bred rac­ing in Australia.

It is a col­lab­o­ra­tive ef­fort be­tween found­ing part­ners the Aus­tralian Chi­nese Times, the As­so­ci­a­tion of Great China (Inc) and the Australia China Busi­ness Coun­cil.

“We are tak­ing the op­por­tu­nity to de­velop a strong Australia/China con­nec­tion with the Chi­nese Con­sulate and Chi­nese com­mu­nity groups through this Chi­nese Race Day,” Mr Jolly said.

“It will be a cel­e­bra­tion of Chi­nese cul­ture, from cater­ing, per­for­mances, pop-up mar­quees sell­ing Chi­nese del­i­ca­cies and goods through to tra­di­tional lion danc­ing. Visit www.perthrac­ing.org.au or www.tick­etek.com.au.
