Chinese racing first
ASCOT Racecourse will host an exhibition of Chinese culture on Saturday, February 21, to coincide with Chinese New Year festivities.
Perth Racing commercial and marketing general manager Darwyn Jolly said the Chinese Race Day was a first for thoroughbred racing in Australia.
It is a collaborative effort between founding partners the Australian Chinese Times, the Association of Great China (Inc) and the Australia China Business Council.
“We are taking the opportunity to develop a strong Australia/China connection with the Chinese Consulate and Chinese community groups through this Chinese Race Day,” Mr Jolly said.
“It will be a celebration of Chinese culture, from catering, performances, pop-up marquees selling Chinese delicacies and goods through to traditional lion dancing. Visit www.perthracing.org.au or www.ticketek.com.au.
