Uni pitches in for cup prep
CRICKETING giants India and the West Indies will join fellow World Cup competitor Afghanistan as teams training at Murdoch University in the coming weeks.
The International Cricket Council has listed the venue, which underwent a serious revamp a couple of years ago, as an official training venue for sessions at the back end of February and early March.
Acting vice chancellor Andrew Taggart was excited to have international crickets honing their skills at the university.
“It’s an opportunity to showcase Murdoch and our world-class facilities to an international audience,” professor Taggart said.
“It also aligns with the strengths of our School of Psychology and Exercise Science which houses a $4 million sports science laboratory which is used for conducting sports research including cricket research.”
The venue was also used by Australia during the recent ODI tri-series with England and India.
