Cricket fan vol­un­teers

SHRIKANT IYEN­GAR will be one of the 147 vol­un­teers pitch­ing in to help at the WACA for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

The St James res­i­dent said he grew up watch­ing and play­ing cricket in In­dia and it was a pas­sion for him.

“Be­ing a Cricket World Cup vol­un­teer will pro­vide me with the per­fect op­por­tu­nity to be as­so­ci­ated with the big­gest event for cricket oc­cur­ring only once ev­ery four years,” he said.

33-year-old Iyen­gar met the se­lec­tion cri­te­ria which out­lined that vol­un­teers must be out­stand­ing am­bas­sadors for the host cities and ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 by up­hold­ing the val­ues of ex­cel­lence, in­tegrity, team­work, in­clu­sion and adapt­abil­ity.

Perth will play host to three games at the WACA ground:

■ In­dia v United Arab Emi­rates, Satur­day Fe­bru­ary 28

■ Australia v Afghanistan, Wed­nes­day March 4

■ In­dia v West Indies, Fri­day March 6
