SLEEK external render, a pitched-roof carport and established gardens give this house a modern look and add depth to the otherwise modest street front.

Inside, the three-bedroom residence has undergone several updates, most recently three years ago.

Owners Christine and Alan bought the home in 2001 and decided to renovate to expand the house and open it up.

“We did the first lot of renovations in 2004, then did the bathroom in 2007 and most recently we expanded the kitchen area and moved a wall there,” Christine said.

“It was an old, old property and we just needed to add more room.”

A portico shelters the secure front entry, which opens to reveal a cosy formal lounge and richlyhued laminate floors.

Christine said they enjoy entertaining, so accommodated a bar.

“We call it our party house; everyone tells us we can’t sell it,” she said.

Further inside, the open-plan kitchen and dining room form a second social space for the whole family.

The completely refurbished kitchen has an island bench with breakfast bar for casual meals, under-bench and over- head storage, tiled splashbacks and stainless steel appliances including a built-in microwave above the oven stack.

From here, large doors slide away to integrate the dining area with the alfresco entertaining area.

With its gabled roof, poured concrete floors, ceiling fans and cafe blinds, the family can enjoy outdoor dining and barbecues all year round.

“In the summer, we entertain out here; the grandkids have a great time,” Christine said.

The space is perfect for the grown-ups to sit back and enjoy a drink or two as they watch over the kids splashing in the above-ground pool or running around on the lawn.

Completing the picture are the bedrooms – two with built-in robes – and the fully tiled bathroom with corner bath and glass shower.

The 506sq m property also has reticulated gardens and there is a shed at the rear.

Extras include a solar pool blanket for heating, reverse-cycle airconditioning, ceiling fans, an alarm system and gas points for heating.

As an added bonus, the custom-built storage unit in the dining room is included with the purchase of the property.
