ZOO en­thu­si­asts can now take a three-di­men­sional look at Perth Zoo on their com­puter from any­where in the world.

Perth Zoo re­cently teamed up with Google Trekker to dig­i­tally map out the paths of the 19.5hectare park to be in­cor­po­rated into Google’s street view cat­a­logue of the world.

The Google Trekker car­ries an 18kg back­pack equipped with 15 lenses to cap­ture im­agery in re­mote places or places only ac­cessi- ble by foot on pathways and trails.

“Perth Zoo is one of the most iso­lated zoos in the world, so this will en­able vis­i­tors from any­where in the world to learn, dis­cover and plan their trip be­fore vis­it­ing us,” Perth Zoo spokes­woman Danielle Henry said.

Richard El­wasfi, Google spe­cial col­lects op­er­a­tor, pre­pares to put Perth Zoo on the Google map.
