NBN roll­out con­tin­ues

THE Na­tional Broad­band Net­work con­tin­ues to roll out across the re­gion with 3900 premises in­cluded in the re­cent ‘build prepa­ra­tion’ phase, in­clud­ing Man­ning, Sal­ter Point, Water­ford, Karawara, Kew­dale, Welsh­pool and Carlisle.

A fur­ther 4700 con­struc­tion sites have al­ready been listed un­der the ‘build com­menced’ phase in Como, Welsh­pool and St James.

The 4700 premises cur­rently listed in the ‘build com­menced’ phase means NBN Co has is­sued con­tract in­struc­tions to its con­struc­tion part­ners so they can com­mence work in the area.

The 3900 premises in the ‘ build prepa­ra­tion’ phase means that the NBN con­trac­tors are un­der­tak­ing pre-con­struc­tion ac­tiv­i­ties, in­clud­ing ready­ing Tel­stra pits and pipes for NBN use.

The NBN roll­out out is part of the Fed­eral Gov­ern­ment’s project to up­grade the ex­ist­ing line phone and in­ter­net net­work struc­ture.
