Perth Zoo’s Eye to Eye animal encounter program has been expanded, giving visitors the opportunity to get closer to more animals than ever before.

Spokeswoman Danielle Henry said there were more than 17 Eye to Eye encounters available, with something to suit every animal lover.

“There’s nothing like touching the rough skin of a rhino or feeling the hot breath of a lion as it roars in your direction; trust me, it will definitely send shivers up your spine,” she said.

“The encounters also give you a taste of the inner workings of the zoo. And being with the keepers, you learn so much more about the animals they dedicate their lives to looking after.”

People who visit the zoo between April 3 and 19 before 11am will go into the draw to win an Eye to Eye encounter.

Prices for visitors start from $5 and anyone interested can book by emailing close encounters@perth au or calling 9474 0444.
