Schools in need of volunteers

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - Near You -

GREEN thumbs, good cooks or those with a gift for helping kids reach their potential, are needed for Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden programs at Belmont, Carlisle and Bentley primary schools.

School Volunteer Program (WA) liaison officer Julie Mullett said the program ran on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the schools with students enthusiastically getting their hands dirty learning to grow, harvest, prepare and share fresh foods.

She said the School Volunteer Program recruited, screened and trained volunteers to work in a variety of roles in these and other local schools and also needed volunteers to help in classroom situations, with homework and as mentors to work one-on-one with students.

“If you have an hour to spare and would be happy to help, please call us,” she said. Visit or call Ms Mullett 9444 8646.
