BIG Daddy and Big Momma Pol­litt will be played by Ron Arthurs, of Como, and Dim­ity Wehr, of East Vic­to­ria Park, in the Stir­ling Play­ers pro­duc­tion of Ten­nessee Wil­liams’ Cat on a Hot Tin Roof dur­ing April.

Jane Sher­wood will di­rect the play that many will know from the Os­car-nom­i­nated 1958 film di­rected by Richard Brooks, star­ring Paul New­man and El­iz­a­beth Tay­lor as the un­hap­pily mar­ried son and daugh­ter-in-law of the plan­ta­tion-own­ing Big Daddy and Big Mommy Pol­litt.

This is Sher­wood’s third pro­duc­tion at Stir­ling Theatre. She trained with Mel­bourne Theatre Com­pany Youth Group and was a found­ing mem­ber of Phoenix Theatre in 2005, work­ing as stage manager on its first show.

Since then she has worked on more than 30 shows as direc­tor, stage manager, ac­tor or tech­ni­cal sup­port at var­i­ous Perth the­atres and pro­duc­tion com­pa­nies, has made sev­eral short films and even been a zom­bie in a fea­ture film.

She has re­ceived var­i­ous ac­co­lades, in­clud­ing direc­tor of best pro­duc­tion, best direc­tor and sev­eral awards for ac­tors ap­pear­ing in her pro­duc­tions.

Ron Arthurs plays Har­vey ‘Big Daddy’ Pol­litt and Dim­ity Wehr as Ida ‘Big Momma’ Pol­litt.
