BEHIND BEGUILING FACADE
FROM the street front, it would be easy to assume this character cottage is on a compact block with a small back yard.
But what a big mistake that would be as this lovely home hides a whopping R20-zoned 1123sq m block and plenty of surprises.
The owner has lived in the 1953built home for the past 23 years, bringing up his family, and renovated the home most recently two years ago.
“The first renovation was done six years ago out the back with the extension for the games room and alfresco area,” he said.
“Then another was done three years ago for the new master bedroom, and the kitchen and front room are the most recent.”
The renovated residence now has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a home office, high ceilings, timber floors and beautiful light-filled living areas.
“My favourite space is the newly renovated kitchen/living area out the front,” the owner said.
“When I first moved in, I couldn’t cook but now I do cook a fair bit and my partner does as well so we have made ourselves a nice new space to work in.”
Completely revamped, the cooking space will impress with its sleek, glossy cabinetry, island bench with waterfall edges and breakfast bar, and top-of-the-range stainless steel cooking appliances.
The adjacent lounge is positioned towards the front of the home and enjoys scenic views of the tree-lined street.
A long hallway, which leads to the bedrooms, ends in a separate wing of the dwelling, which houses a huge open-plan games room. Perfect for teenagers, there is plenty of space for both a pool table and a table tennis set-up in the sunken area, while the sitting area is perfect for the TV and Playstation.
On top of all this, stacker doors here open up to the alfresco dining space, which overlooks the belowground pool and a half-size tennis court at the rear.
Parents get to enjoy the master bedroom, which has a massive builtin robe and ensuite as well as french doors that open out to a private decked courtyard.
Completing the picture are four covered parking bays accessed via a side street.
The owner added that the neighbourhood was hard to beat.
“It’s great in terms of access – I work in Rockingham and it’s easy to get on the freeway coming against the traffic,” he said.
“I also do a lot of sailing and we go across to the yacht club and western suburbs where my family is.
“The kids went to Penrhos and Wesley, which are also both really close by.
“I genuinely love this house and the kids more so.”
