Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - Opinion -

ON reading the report in last week’s edition headlined “Upgrades to improve dangerous intersection”, I see a long list of things to be done.

However, I don't see any mention of right-turn arrows on each of the remaining three legs: southbound on Hill View Terrace is the only lane enjoying that privilege.

If the right-turn arrows are not provided, then all the other works will be just one more complete waste of taxpayers’ money, and achieve nothing.

It would also help if all legs were restricted to one lane only on the exits from the intersection. This can be done very simply and at minimum cost by sculpting the exits to allow just one through-lane, thus eliminating merge problems: two lanes in, one forcing a compulsory right-turn on an arrow, the other straight through and permitting a left turn.

Yet, I am not holding my breath. GORDON EDWARDS, East Victoria Park.
