Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - Opinion -

AGAIN, we see the total disregard the Barnett Government holds for South Perth council and residents.

The Minister for Planning has approved buildings to the height of 36 metres on the corner of Manning Road and Ley Street. He forced the zoning be changed to R160 when the maximum previously in South Perth was R100.

He overrode the council’s recommended maximum height of 21 metres and other environmental conditions.

When asked to comment on the proposal, 152 residents responded with 90 per cent rejecting the proposal in the low-rise residential area.

There will be increased hazards at the already-dangerous Ley Street and Manning Road intersection. ROGER REYNOLDS, Manning.
