Com­pe­ti­tion raises steaks

ON the back of last year’s win, the Kar­alee on Pre­ston will once again vie for the crown of WA’s best steak sand­wich, but this year the com­pe­ti­tion has heated up with some new en­trants.

The Kew­dale Tav­ern will join in this year in a bid to knock the Como estab­lish­ment off its throne.

“Now in its eighth year, this popular com­pe­ti­tion con­tin­ues to raise the gas­tro­nomic qual­ity of WA steak sand­wiches,” he said.

“Steak sand­wiches are an Aussie icon and a high­light of any pub menu. They pull to­gether great ideas, home-style cooking, fresh lo­cal pro­duce and beau­ti­ful Aus­tralian meat.”

Th­ese fi­nal­ists will be an­nounced on April 23 with the fi­nal cook-offs tak­ing place at the AHA’s Hos­pi­tal­ity Expo on May 19 and 20 at Crown Perth.
