Hard-fought match not enough to claim win

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - Sport -

PERTH did everything right but bring up a win in a hardfought match against Peel, which they lost by five points in the dying seconds at Lathlain Park on Saturday.

Perth can probably blame their inaccuracy in front of goal for costing them victory, especially in the first half. The final score was Peel (11.7) 73 to Perth (9.14) 68.

and Bateman played their best games for the club for some time. Aidan Tropiano was again outstanding, picking up 35 touches and must be an early front-runner for the Sandover Medal.

Perth, leading by seven points at threequarter time, kicked 4.1 in the last term and when Brett Wolfenden and O’Sullivan kicked crucial majors, it appeared the Demons were home.
