THE Kensington Police and Community Youth Centre (PCYC) is poised to begin major refurbishments to the centre soon.

Kensington is one of eight centres across the state set to benefit from a $10.25 million cash injection from the State Government.

The centres have been operating in WA for 74 years, offering youth educational and recreational activities, including special programs for at-risk youth.

WA PCYC chief executive Jock Gillespie is excited about the project and said it was a substantial step for the organisation in its partnership with the WA Police.

“Our PCYC family has been waiting for a long time for this injection of confidence and revitalisation,” Mr Gillespie said.

Kensington PCYC was established in 1970 and focuses on providing a wide range of crime prevention and early intervention, as well as recreational and educational programs.
