COMO restaurant Karalee on Preston is in the top five finalists of WA’s best steak sandwich competition.

The popular eatery can expect some tough competition in the grand cook off at the Hospitality Expo on May 20 at Crown Perth.

The other four metropolitan finalists are the CY O’Con- nor Village Pub at Piara Waters, Mash Brewing from Rockingham, the Mundaring Hotel at Mundaring and The Merrywell at Crown Perth.

Tourism Western Australia and brewing company Lion decided to put some cash up to find out who makes WA’s best ‘steak sanga’.

“The steak sandwich is a highlight of pub and bar menus because it pulls together home-style cooking and locally grown produce,” Australian Hotels Association WA CEO Bradley Woods said.

“We have some of the best pubs and bars in Australia and we want to celebrate the steak sandwich being an iconic taste of WA.”
