A NOVEL WAY TO CEL­E­BRATE BOOKS

VIC­TO­RIA Park chil­dren’s au­thor Cristy Burne is cu­ra­tor of the 2015 heART­lines Fes­ti­val of Chil­dren’s Lit­er­a­ture and Book Il­lus­tra­tion.

It runs un­til June 28 at Mun­dar­ing Arts Cen­tre.

The fes­ti­val fea­tures a free ex­hi­bi­tion of orig­i­nal work byWA chil­dren’s book cre­ators, as well as hand­son il­lus­tra­tion and paint­ing work­shops, inspiring talks and meet-the-maker ses­sions, and an ex­ten­sive pro­gram of school vis­its and work­shops. It has been held bi­en­ni­ally since 2005, and pro­motes an ap­pre­ci­a­tion and un­der­stand­ing of chil­dren’s books through the sto­ries and art of WA au­thors and il­lus­tra­tors.

It is de­signed to bring lit­er­a­ture and art en­rich­ment op­por­tu­ni­ties to chil­dren, teach­ers, writ­ers and artists on the eastern edge of Perth.
