Grant gives plant a boost
KEWDALE-based manufacturer Fero Group is investing more than $23 million to build a state-of-the-art automated galvanising plant to expand its product range for export markets.
Swan MHR Steve Irons visited the plant after the Federal Government assisted the manufacturer with a $4.9 million grant.
“This funding will ensure Fero Group remains a competitive and sustainable business in Swan,” Mr Irons said.
“The grant funds will significantly speed up the timing of the project leading to a more competitive business, greater exports and more employment,” he said.
Mr Irons said Fero Group can now invest in more sophisticated knowledge in intensive manufacturing, cre- ating high-value jobs in areas where the greatest economic opportunities exist.
Of the 79 businesses that applied for funding under the Federal Government’s Manufacturing Transition Program, 19 received between $1 million and $5 million.
