SOUTH Perth opera singers Corinne Cowling and Amy Yarham are farewelling Perth to embark on their next step in their careers.
The talented sopranos recently graduated from the WA Academy of Performing Arts with a graduate diploma in opera studies and are now heading overseas.
Yarham was accepted into the Masters of Music in Classical Voice at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City, where she will commence her studies in September.
Cowling was awarded the Guildhall School of Music and Drama Award at the 2014 IFAC Australian Singing Competition.
The award granted her a place in the Masters of Music Vocal Studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. She will also start her studies in September.
“I am very excited to be going, but I am also apprehensive due to the cost and the rent in London,” Corinne said.
“My aim is to have an international career and work with directors and conductors are who are extremely inspiring and able to make opera accessible to a wide audience.”
To celebrate their graduation, the pair will be performing one last time in Perth on Saturday, August 1, at the Trinity Uniting Church in the city.
The concert will feature WA Opera’s Katja Webb, Cowling’s sister Morgan Cowling, actor and playwright Nick Maclaine and accompanist Caroline Badnall. South Perth opera singers Corinne Cowling and Amy Yarham will say farewell in
concert before heading overseas.
