Look out for the signs. You’ll be able to smell it on their breath or clothing. Explain your concerns about drinking and the range of risks involved. Set clear boundaries. Try to find what’s led to this incident – it may not be ‘just a stage’. Make sure your teen knows you will always be there for them, whatever happens. Wait until morning to discuss the situation. Seek help from your GP or health professional if you’re worried that it’s becoming regular behaviour.
