Running club brings students up to speed
www.communitypix.com.au d438551 EAST Victoria Park Primary School has taken healthy lifestyle to the next level and has introduced a morning running club.
Every Wednesday and Friday morning the group gets together to work on running fitness and technique.
The club was established to give students the opportunity to participate in physical activity and to help create a sense of community.
The activities focus on running speed, technique and agility in a variety of specific activities.
Year One/Two teacher Renee Gilchrist said it was wonderful to see the students running around enjoying the morning fitness session.
“I find the transition into the classroom when the bell goes to be smooth, as they are focussed and ready to learn,” she said.
Physical education specialist Blair Ranford puts years 1, 2 and 6 students through their paces.
