DON’T LEAVE AN INVITATION TO STEAL

Southern Gazette (South Perth) - - Street Watch -

OUR routine daily patrols are seeing far too many garage doors open in full view of the road and pedestrian users. Inside garages, we are seeing expensive pushbikes or motorbikes, gardening tools, fishing and sporting equipment, just to name a few. On top of this, owners and occupiers of these premises are out. Considering the large number of reports of property theft and burglaries though unlocked doors and windows, it is very disappointing the crime safety message is not getting through to these people, with the majority doing the right thing. We are seeing a rise in vehicles stolen after keys are left in the vehicle ignition or glove box. Offenders do not need this open invitation to steal. Please report suspicious behaviour to police on 131 444 – Senior Sergeant Ashley Goy, officer-in-charge, Kensington Police

KENSINGTON detectives are seeking information regarding an aggravated armed robbery in Queens Park on Tuesday, June 9 in which the victim received a laceration to her head. About 6.45am, a 26-year-old woman was walking along George Street in Queens Park when she was approached by a man who had just exited a vehicle parked on the kerb. The offender produced a large knife and attempted to take the victim’s purse. The victim struggled with the offender and as a result she received a laceration to her head, which required medical attention. During the incident, the victim’s mobile phone and purse fell from her handbag and the offender picked them and was last seen leaving in the vehicle he was originally sitting inside. The offender is described as fair skinned, in his late 20s to early 30s, 18-188cm tall and wearing a black hooded jumper with white logo across the chest and dark shorts.

The vehicle is described as an older model green hatchback. Anyone with information regarding this incident, or who has information regarding the green hatchback that was parked on George Street, is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
