YOUNG Indigenous West Australians now have the chance to learn more about our most precious resource.

Four young students from Clontarf Academy and Sevenoaks Senior College will be the first to begin a two-year traineeship at the Water Corporation depot in Kelmscott to obtain a certificate II qualification in water operations.

Water Corporation chief executive Sue Murphy said the students would carry out onsite work at the Kelmscott depot under the guidance of a Water Corporation supervisor, as well as structured training through Challenger Institute of Technology.

After the pilot program, she said they would consider extending it to other locations.
