MAN­NING li­brary has been bro­ken in to for the sec­ond time in two weeks. Thieves en­tered the li­brary late on Sun­day, June 21 through a win­dow, stole $120 cash, ri­fled through doors and threw fur­ni­ture in the main area of the li­brary in a bid to find valu­ables. Li­brar­ian Crys­tal Larsen said the front door was re­placed af­ter the pre­vi­ous break in, but they were con­sid­er­ing up­grad­ing se­cu­rity. “We are go­ing to have to buy another se­cu­rity cam­era; we have one but we are look­ing at get­ting another one,” she said. “The li­brary was bro­ken in to two weeks ago so we as­sume it is the same peo­ple.” Mr Larsen said the break-in was puz­zling as staff did not keep a lot of cash on the premises. Kens­ing­ton Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing. Man­ning li­brary mem­bers are asked to re­turn loans to South Perth li­brary un­til fur­ther no­tice.
