Lots of reasons to celebrate as Community Newspaper Group reaches its 30th anniversary
IT is a big year for Community Newspaper Group and that means it is a big year for you too, our readers. This month marks 30 years since the formation of Community Newspaper Group, which has grown into Perth’s biggest and most successful chain of free local newspapers. Like the world around us and the people and suburbs we cover, we have changed a lot in the years since 1985. From the original nine weekly newspapers, Community Newspaper Group now boasts a stable of 17 mastheads that provide local news, images and event information to territories from Yanchep to Mandurah. And while it used to be all about the copy in your letterbox, there are now even more ways for readers to stay in touch with the news from their community. Our website communitynews. com.au is accessible from any digital device, including mobile phones, tablets or computers. Digitally savvy readers who know their local paper as the place to look for a tradie can now also use LookLocalWA.com.au – another fresh Community Newspaper Group offering that connects readers with local trades and service providers. We have certainly grown and changed over the years, but our aim is the same as it was in the beginning – to help you make the most of where you live. Thanks for reading local.
PS – I trust you will enjoy reading our special 30th birthday feature each week in July as we take a look back at life as it was 30 years ago. And did I mention we also have $30,000 cash to give away as part of our celebrations? Don’t forget to get your entry in the draw each week.
