Churchill Trust hon­our for pair

TWO lo­cal res­i­dents will be able to ex­pand their skills af­ter be­ing an­nounced as WA Churchill Fel­lows by the Win­ston Churchill Me­mo­rial Trust.

The trust was es­tab­lished 50 years ago to hon­our Churchill’s legacy, and celebrate and re­ward Aus­tralians who strive for ex­cel­lence.

Jamie Brady of South Perth and Como’s Felic­ity Hor­rocks have both been named 2015 Fel­lows.

Mr Brady is a man­ager in the In­fra­struc­ture, Projects, Pol­icy and Re­search di­vi­sion of the Depart­ment of Plan­ning.

He will travel over­seas to ex- plore the in­ter­face be­tween in­dus­trial de­vel­op­ment and ex­pand­ing residential com­mu­ni­ties.

Ms Hor­rocks, from the Depart­ment for Child Pro­tec­tion and Fam­ily Sup­port, will ex­am­ine in­no­va­tive pro­grams to re­duce home­less­ness and hous­ing stress for low-in­come fam­i­lies.

The pro­ject will ex­am­ine pro­grams suc­cess­fully used in other coun­tries to in­crease the sup­ply of af­ford­able hous­ing for low to mod­er­ate in­come earn­ers, and how these could be de­vel­oped and im­ple­mented in Aus­tralia.
