Lo­cals join state’s fire­fight­ing team

THREE lo­cal men are among the WA Fire and Res­cue Ser­vice’s new­est fire­fight­ers af­ter grad­u­at­ing re­cently.

Mark Deer­ing (River­vale), Robert Kelemete (Man­ning) and Dar­rin Sto­bba from Como com­pleted a 17-week course at the Fire and Emer­gency Ser­vices Academy gain­ing vi­tal skills in fire fight­ing, road crash res­cue, haz­ardous ma­te­ri­als and com­mu­nity safety.

Fire and Emer­gency Ser­vices Com­mis­sioner Wayne Greg­son con­grat­u­lated them on their hard work and com­mit­ment to the West Aus­tralian com­mu­nity.

“It is ex­cit­ing to see these young men and women step­ping for­ward to serve their com­mu­nity,” he said,

“These grad­u­ates join a strong con­tin­gent of highly skilled West Aus­tralian fire­fight­ers, who will sup­port and guide them dur­ing their on­go­ing de­vel­op­ment.”
